(BASANT KA RANG)

2009

Uttarakhand, the Dev Bhumi on earth, abounds in serenity, tranquility, peace, scenic beauty, flora and fauna. The flowers in the home gardens, in the nurseries and in wild all add up to give it the colours of spring. The Valley of flowers located in the state is an undeclared wonder of the World and is known for its rare floral splendor.

The birth and concept of Colour of Spring goes back to the year 2003. The show is organized every year to mark the advent of spring in the valley of Dehra Dun. It goes a long way to not only give a glimpse of nature at its best but also inspire all the flower lovers.

A walk through the Raj Bahavan gardens where the flower show is organized is like walking through heaven.

A maze of colourful flowers – Gerbera, Carnations, Gladiolus, Marigold, Lily, Roses, Dahlia, Antirrhinum, Larkspur, and a number of imported flowers as well as those from the forests of Uttarakhand were on display. Fresh Petal Rangoli stole the day. A large number of Amateur Photographs were also on display.

A visit to the Bonsai Garden” created a sense of awe and feeling of what an artist can create from nature – a living miniature garden.
